6th Hove Drum Corps (Brighton & Hove, Sussex) is a non-profit
organization, operated solely for the betterment of youth. 6th Hove
recruits male and female members between the ages of 13-25. The
performers appear in many parades, festivals, community
celebrations, drum corps shows and championships throughout the UK
and more recently through some parts of Europe.
Our group is composed of three sections: brass, percussion, and
colour guard. The instrumentation varies within each section and we
can find a place for any young person who has a desire to learn and
perform with other motivated individuals whilst travelling the
country.
Over the years, 6th Hove have competed on both the BYBA
(British Youth Band Association) and DCUK (Drum Corps United
Kingdom) national circuits. We have been hugely successful on both
circuits, performing to the highest level and competing with some of
the best corps in Britain. The last few years have also seen us
travel to continental Europe to compete in the European Drum Corp’s
championships. This has provided us with the fantastic opportunity
to compete against some of Europe’s greatest corps and see some of
the world at the same time!
Membership in 6th Hove requires dedication, discipline, and
self-sacrifice. Our members develop leadership potential while
working as a team. They use these skills throughout their lives.
Members have the opportunity to set goals and strive to meet and
exceed them...... It’s also lots of fun!
